ballsdeep show notes:
This was one of those "once in a lifetime" shows, where a good chunk of disparate friends in their early 20's from Alaska convened on the Memorial Coliseum in Portland OR, 2000 miles from home, for who else but the bad boys of rock & roll, that being Guns N Roses. and what a weekend it was! We went to Testament the next night (already torrented on dime), and there's a pretty funny story that involved Chris, Gabe and Kim from that night. This show had, in addition to them, we had Wes, Paul, John, Greg and Dave. They drove from Seattle to Portland in 90 minutes in a borrowed BMW, allegedly driving in the emergency lane for half of the trip (it's 180 miles away....). Upon Wes (the driver) dropping them off at the Red Lion (our hotel) across the river of the venue. He then took off for the liquor store....We were standing on the deck. About 15 seconds after Wes disappeared....We then heard a HUGE crash. We went running up the ramp from the freeway, and discovered that Wes had hit a hooptie (junk care) mid 70's Celica head on. The Celica was bascially undamaged from the outside, though it was leaking radiator fluid. The Beemer, on the other hand, had a *minimum* of 10K damage, the front bumper was caved in a good foot+, and EVERY fluid imaginable was on the asphalt. Poor Wes, was this a harbinger of things to come?

This show was taped from 2 locations: From the start to before November Rain, that portion was taped from the lower bowl toward the back on Slash's side, then from the the incomplete November Rain on, from behind the stage, also from Slash's side. The end of the show was where my original tickets were, so I decided to wander that way...point being, if you notice a sound difference, that is why. Maybe half of "November Rain" was missed, but that was it. The three highlights I both remember and that are documented here are a sick, hallucinatory version of "The Garden", an extended (7 minute +) version of "Nice Boys", and a sick jam leading into "Double Talkin' Jive"....see if you agree.

Post show we scrounged for food, and could only get room service cheeseburgers. I only mention this due to the bulk of our party waking up in the morning with tomato slices on our eyeballs, lettuce on our faces, uneaten top buns on our tits, and Paul in the corner of the room giggling like a little girl; at least it wasn't 'cock n balls' and Hitler mustaches.... :D

BIG thanks to rockphantom for the upload, and I do have a few more GNR masters yet to be torrented...stay tuned!
