Tape flip @ the very end of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" - no music lost, but an abrupt end, cutting off Axl saying "Thank you"

Show Notes:
It's always nice a day or two before the big, rescheduled Guns/Metallica/Body Count (due to James catching on fire) show to be taping Exodus at One Step Beyond in San Jose and get caught by the 6'3", 290 lb. security guard who opens your deck, ***snaps the tape in half***, and throws it, and the batteries into the garbage right in front of your face...but lets you stay to watch the rest of the show.

It's even nicer to realize that in the melee either the microphone fell out of the deck, or he threw it in the garbage, too.

All this at age 20, barely a month+ into an over-25-year taping "career".

So, the next day, we had to go to the big, shiny Sony store in San Jose, and try and get a replacement mic (we couldn't, they had no PC-62 on the shelf).

So I ended up buying some weird Sony mic with an AA battery, and a plastic divider that divided the head into L/R. Probably twice the length of a 909, and 2-3 times as thick. Pretty sure it had an on/off switch (i.e. battery)...no idea what it was, though if I saw a picture of it, I'd probably recognize it.

It lasted for this one show, as I much preferred the wider range of the PC-62...though listening back I'm glad we made the 80 mile round trip to San Jose vs. no tape at all.

And, of course, this was the show in Metallica's "home base", and roughly $100,000 damage was caused to the A's field BEFORE GNR even hit the stage...many a dirt clod hit me in the head during their set.

There's some jostling, and some wind noise, but for the most part this is a pretty enjoyable listen.

It's GNR, I'll let you folks' comments stand as testament to the show...

So if you made it thru ALL that "blah blah"

THANK Dennis

And curse me all to high heaven...ain't gonna do any good, but do it anyway. Do it for Mikey.

Back to the tape mines....
